Free live class for women over 35
Why the Weight Keeps Coming Back
You've lost the weight before and watched it return. In this free live class, a GP who trains other doctors explains what's happening in your body, and the four things she teaches her own patients to stop starting over.
6:00 PM Brisbane · 6:30 PM Adelaide · 4:00 PM Perth
The weight coming back was never a willpower problem. Your body was trying to protect you.
The day you start a diet, your body doesn't know you want to fit into a dress for a wedding. It thinks food has run out. Hunger climbs, your metabolism slows, and somewhere between three weeks and three months your hormones win. The weight returns, often with a little extra, and every round leaves you with a bit less muscle than the one before.
Your weight is shaped by more than 20 factors. You control two or three of them. Nobody gave you the other 17.
It's physiology. And physiology can be learned.
In this free class, Dr Mais walks you through how she helps her own patients work with their body instead of against it, so you can stop starting over.
In one evening, you'll learn:
Plain English from a doctor, with things you can use the next morning.
Why the weight keeps coming back
What your body does after the weight comes off, and why each round gets harder than the one before.
The truth about why diets don't work
Why every diet seems to work for a few weeks and then stops, and what your body is doing behind the scenes.
Why your age and slow metabolism isn't the problem
What slows your metabolism in your 40s and 50s (it isn't your age), and why it can be turned around at any age.
Who this is for
Women who've lost it before
You've done the diets, the shakes and the early gym sessions, and watched the weight come back each time.
Women in their 40s and 50s
You're eating the same food as always and the weight is settling around your middle anyway.
Anyone tired of starting again
Whether you want to lose 10 kilos or more, you want a plan that holds after the weight comes off.

Your host
Hosted by Dr Mais Hussein
Dr Mais is a GP with a special interest in weight management, and holds a Master of Nutrition and Dietetics from the University of Sydney. In one appointment she is often the doctor, the dietitian and the listening ear.
For about four years she has trained other GPs in weight management. The doctor your own GP learns from may well be her.
She has lived the problem too. Years of fad diets and hours of cardio, and people telling her she didn't need to lose weight. Then in 2022 it clicked, and she has taught it to her patients ever since.
She doesn't believe in willpower, crash diets or blame. She believes in physiology, and in seeing you on your bad weeks, not only your good ones.

Frequently asked questions
Is this a sales pitch?
Most of the evening is teaching you can use whatever you decide. At the end Dr Mais explains her 12-week group program for anyone who wants her help each week. There's no pressure, and if it isn't right for you, you'll still leave with plenty.
Will there be a recording?
No. The class is live only, so come along on the night. The Q&A with Dr Mais only happens live.
Do I have to show my face or talk about my weight?
No. Cameras are optional, and you can ask questions privately in the chat. Nobody will ask you to share your weight.
Is this individual medical advice?
No. This is general education. For advice about your own health or medication, speak with your own GP. If you live locally, you can book a face-to-face appointment with Dr Mais at Myhealth Ed Square.
Who's running it?
Dr Mais Hussein, a GP (FRACGP) with a Master of Nutrition and Dietetics from the University of Sydney, who has trained other GPs in weight management for about four years.
